Juan C. Izaza is a founding and managing Partner of Izaza Abogados, concentrating on constitutional and administrative law and human rights matters, including consulting and litigation in each of these areas. Mr. Izaza has been the principal tax lawyer on numerous domestic and cross border transactions in a wide range of industries. Mr. Izaza has more than 30 years of experience in different tax matters including structuring and advising on national and international acquisitions, mergers and cross-border transactions, and implementation of tax planning structures. Prior to forming the firm, Mr. Izaza served as the head of the Department of Legal Services of Deloitte Mexico from 1997 to 2010 as well as Chairman of its Board of Directors from 2002 to 2010. He earned a Bachelor of Laws (Licenciado en Derecho) from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), in 1977.

 

Mr. Izaza writes articles on tax, administrative, civil and constitutional issues and is a contributor to many legal publications. Mr. Izaza is a frequent speaker to bar associations and professional organizations on issues relating to constitutional, tax and administrative matters, including the Mexican Bar Association and the Institute for Legal Research at UNAM, the Taxpayers Protection Office (Procuraduría de la Defensa del Contribuyente), the Public Accountants and Tax Academy (Academia de Estudios Fiscales de la Contaduría Pública), the National Association of Tax Specialists (Asociación Nacional de Especialistas Fiscales), among others.


As of 2013 Mr. Izaza serves as editor-in-chief of “El Foro”, published semiannually by the Mexican Bar Association. Mr. Izaza has been recognised again in 2013 by the distinguished publications Chambers & Partners and Best Lawyers as one of the best Mexican tax lawyers, and is now an adviser and technical expert to the Finance and Social Security Committees and the Fiscal Advisory Board of the Mexican Congress, through which he has collaborated on several law amendments currently in effect.
